What should I expect from my repair shop?

About one month ago, I had my starter replaced in my car at my repair shop. I was having an intermittent no-start situation.

I'm noticing the problem again. I want to call the repair shop, but I'm wondering what should I expect from them during this process? Do you think it would be under warranty?

First of all,
The shop may have repaired a problem that was related to the intermittent start.
You could call the shop and speak with them and let them know that you are still having the problem, they may be outgoing enough to fix the problem, but generally if they don't fix the problem and it's noticeable right away then they have little to stand on but to fix the problem. After a month down the road they generally aren't legally responsible for the problem anymore.
It sounds like a charging system problem like the alternator, but without more information I couldn't tell you anything more.

As far as talking with the shop, that's where I would start, they will probably ask you to bring the vehicle back to them to do further checking. The warranty if any would only be on the starter, if the starter failed, but not on labor to install or get the part in.

So, first step, call the shop and let them know that you are still having problems with the intermittent start(be friendly) don't say that they didn't fix the problem or that will cause conflict, and see what they will do. Electrical problems are generally harder to fix than mechanical failures due to the nature of an electrical problem you cannot visually see the problem.

Also ask how long they've been in business, and how many years of experience they have. With this information, you'll have a better understanding of who you're hiring whether it's the local shop or your dealer.
